French-Indian Rising Artist Salomé Das Launches Solo Career with Global Pop Track ‘Back 2 Malaysia’
Marking a highly anticipated transition into the global music landscape, French-Indian rising artist Salomé Das has launched her solo career with the release of her debut single, “Back 2 Malaysia.” Distributed by Def Jam Malaysia, the vibrant, cross-cultural pop track functions as both an commercial introduction and an authentic sonic tribute to the upbringing that formed her.
Born in Munich and raised in Kuala Lumpur from infancy, Das has spent her life navigating the unique realities of a third-culture child. Growing up immersed in French, Indian, and Malaysian cultures simultaneously, she developed an identity rooted in multiple worlds. “Back 2 Malaysia” stands as the intersection where these backgrounds merge, integrating traditional Malaysian and Asian instrumentation with standard-setting global pop production. The track effectively captures the carefree warmth and sensory nostalgia of a tropical childhood—evoking memories of the sea, the local food, and a distinct sense of freedom.

“No matter where I go in the world, I carry Malaysia with me,” Das states. “Through the food, the culture, the warmth, the nature, and the carefree spirit of sun and freedom that I constantly seek out. For me, Malaysia has always felt like joy, colour, nostalgia and home. This song captures that feeling—of freedom, sunshine and coming home. The place that stays with us forever.”
Das’s entry into the solo spotlight follows an impressive, non-linear artistic path. After working internationally as an Elite model and spending five years based in London, she first introduced her vocals to a massive global audience as the featured artist on the collaborative track “Life is Simple.” The song achieved immense commercial success, surpassing 90 million streams on Spotify and bringing her to a stadium stage in Mumbai to perform in front of 8,000 people. Following a two-year creative journey spent refining her definitive sound and building the right collaborative circle, Das recorded “Back 2 Malaysia” in Los Angeles, solidifying her creative vision.

Parallel to her musical architecture, Das maintains a highly deliberate visual presence that honors her multifaceted heritage. She consistently merges traditional elements on stage, pairing her signature bindi with Indian jewellery, batik, and sarongs. Looking beyond the charts, Das positions herself as a passionate advocate for youth and a champion for Asian representation in international music. Her ultimate professional mission is as ambitious as it is clear: to break barriers as the first Indian global pop star while actively providing a platform to elevate regional Asian talent on the world stage.
“Back 2 Malaysia” is out now and available across all major digital streaming and download platforms.
