KUALA LUMPUR, 17 September 2026 — Following a series of teasers, HONOR has officially introduced the HONOR X9e Pro in Malaysia, making the country one of the first markets to welcome the latest addition to the X Series. Building on the series’ reputation as Pilihan Utama Rakyat Malaysia, the new smartphone combines extreme durability, a massive battery, advanced water resistance and an ultra-bright display, while continuing the X Series’ strong presence in Malaysia’s mid-range smartphone segment.

During an exclusive media briefing, HONOR showcased the smartphone’s rugged construction through a series of extreme durability demonstrations. Among the highlights was a controlled test in which the HONOR X9e Pro was subjected to repeated high-impact air-gun shots aimed directly at its display. Despite the repeated impacts, the device remained intact without visible cracks and continued to operate, highlighting the strength of its Armor-Tough construction.

The HONOR X9e Pro is equipped with HONOR Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Technology 4.0, which draws inspiration from the Halo Safety System used in Formula 1 racing. Designed to withstand demanding environments, the technology enables the device to survive drops from up to three metres across 10 challenging surfaces, including cobblestone, asphalt and rough granite.

Adding another layer of protection, the smartphone features 360° Dynamic Drop Resistance, designed to protect against unpredictable drops from different angles. It can withstand all-angle dynamic drops of up to 1.2 metres while reducing the risk of screen damage by up to 82 per cent. The device has also received SGS 5-Star Comprehensive Reliability certification for reliability and drop resistance under harsh conditions.

Beyond drop tests, the HONOR X9e Pro was put through a series of additional demonstrations, including hammering nails into wood, smashing metal cans and withstanding the impact of a metal ball launched from a slingshot. Media representatives were also invited to conduct a controlled air-gun test, with the smartphone continuing to function after repeated high-impact shots.

Powering the device is a massive 11,000mAh battery, representing a significant increase from the previous generation’s 8,300mAh capacity. The large battery is designed to support extended usage throughout long commutes, outdoor activities and demanding daily tasks without requiring frequent charging.

The HONOR X9e Pro also supports 27W wired reverse charging, allowing it to function as a portable power source for other devices. During the demonstration, the smartphone simultaneously charged an iPhone, smartwatch and earbuds while powering a portable monitor. For its own charging needs, the device supports 80W HONOR SuperCharge, providing faster charging with reduced downtime.

Durability extends to water protection, with the HONOR X9e Pro featuring IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings. Its IP69K protection is designed to withstand powerful high-pressure water jets and high-temperature water, providing added protection in situations such as heavy rain, food delivery work, water sports and fishing.

HONOR further revealed that the X9e Pro can withstand immersion at depths of up to 10 metres and has undergone up to 100,000 submersion cycles. Inspired by submarine waterproof architecture, the smartphone incorporates a three-layer sealing system and independent protection around key components, including its buttons, speaker, USB-C port and SIM tray. A precision drainage system around the speaker also helps manage water exposure while maintaining everyday usability.

On the display front, the HONOR X9e Pro features an industry-leading peak brightness of 10,000 nits, designed to deliver clearer and more visible content even under intense outdoor lighting. During the media session, HONOR placed the smartphone alongside devices from other brands under direct sunlight to demonstrate differences in screen visibility and clarity.

The HONOR X9e Pro also continues the X Series’ strong track record in Malaysia’s mid-range smartphone segment. According to HONOR, the X Series has maintained its position as Malaysia’s No. 1 best-selling mid-range smartphone series for 37 consecutive months as of March 2026, reaching a peak market share of 77 per cent. In Q1 2026, HONOR recorded a 21 per cent share of Malaysia’s overall smartphone market, with the X Series contributing significantly to the brand’s performance.

The new smartphone will be available in four colour options, each featuring a premium metallic-look finish: Royal Purple, Dawn Gold, Reddish Brown and Midnight Black.
